About Bridget Coila

Bridget writes science fiction and fantasy stories and nonfiction articles on a wide range of topics. She travels the world writing, taking photographs and tackling odd jobs, often more for the stories than the cash. She occasionally tries her hand at art, but she isn't very good at it. That doesn't seem to actually stop her, however.

Originally hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, she claims Mardi Gras as her favorite holiday. And not just because she gets to dress up in costumes for days on end and yell at people to give her stuff.

Bridget has also lived in Clarksville, Ohio (outside Cincinnati) and Seattle, Washington. She currently resides in Beijing, China, which she still finds kind of random and odd. But there she is, anyway.

Bridget has a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, two cats (currently residing in New Orleans with her brother), one developing child whose planned date of appearance is sometime around January 3, 2010 and numerous oddities that make her fairly well suited for living in a city where strange things happen on a daily basis.

In addition to her writing and photography, Bridget also frequently participates on panels at science fiction conventions and is part of the Beijing Futurists group. She's always up for random adventure. Some of her previous excursions have included sailing a two-masted schooner off the Washington coast, riding a zipline down the Great Wall of China, rock climbing in various wildernesses, losing badly in a national-level Judo tournament in college and kayaking with orca whales.
